Andreas Feronas is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Social and Educational Policy, University of Peloponnese. He graduated from the Department of Sociology, University of Crete, he got his Master’s degree in the Analysis of European Social Policy from the University of Bath, UK (Erasmus scholarship) and his Ph.D in Social Policy from Panteion University, Athens (IKY scholarship). He has taught in the Department of Sociology, University of Crete (2001-2004), he has worked as an expert at the Ministry of Employment and Social Protection (2003-2008) and at the National Centre for Public Administration (2008-2009) and he has been a Member of the Employment Committee (EMCO) of European Union (2004-2008). He teaches at the National School of Public Administration and is he is a collaborative staff member in the Greek Open University. He is the author of two monographs, Poverty and Social Exclusion in Europe and Greece: Concepts, perceptions, policies (Eds Sakkoulas, 2004) and, The Europeanization of Social Policy: Theoretical Perspectives, Methodological Problems and the Greek Experience (Eds Dionikos, forthcoming). He has co-edited (with Ch. Economou) the collective volume, The Extramural: Poverty and social Exclusion in Modern Societies (Eds Dionikos, 2006). His research interests focus on poverty and social exclusion, European social policy and comparative social policy.
