ΕΕ6 - History of Education Tutor: Effi Gazi Semester: 4th Short Description: The course focuses on key developments and phenomena in the Greek state during the 20th century. It examines the Goudi Movement, the Balkan Wars, WWI and the Asia Minor Campaign, the inter-war years, World War II, the Occupation, the Resistance, the Civil War, the emergence of post-war Greece, the military junta up to the transition to democracy and the process of globalisation. Particular emphasis is given to the socio -economic and political processes and phenomena as well as the cultural and ideological trends and currents. Aims: to familiarise students with the history of contemporary Greece Learning Outcomes: Students completing the course should have acquired sufficient knowledge of contemporary Greek history to be able to critically approach contemporary social phenomena and developments Structure: 13 three-hour lectures Assessment: Assessment will be through a written examafter the completion of the course.
